This lets us use :(attr) with "git grep <tree-ish>" or "git log".
:(attr) requires another round of checking before we can declare that
a path is matched. This is done after path matching since we have lots
of optimization to take a shortcut when things don't match.
Note that if :(attr) is present, we can't return
all_entries_interesting / all_entries_not_interesting anymore because
we can't be certain about that. Not until match_pathspec_attrs() can
tell us "yes all these paths satisfy :(attr)".
Second note. Even though we walk a specific tree, we use attributes
from _worktree_ (or falling back to the index), not from .gitattributes
files on that tree. This by itself is not necessarily wrong, but the
user just have to be aware of this.

Even though "direct ancestor" is not defined in the glossary, the
common meaning of the term is simply "parent", parents being the only
direct ancestors, and the rest of ancestors being indirect ancestors.
As "parent" is obviously wrong in this place in the description, we
should simply say "ancestor", as everywhere else.

The ability to exclude paths with a negative pathspec is not mentioned
in the man pages for git grep and other commands where it might be
useful.
Add an example and a pointer to the pathspec glossary entry in the man
page for git grep to help the user to discover this ability.
Add similar pointers from the git-add and git-status man pages.
Additionally,
- Add a test for the behaviour when multiple exclusions are present.
- Add a test for the ^ alias.
- Improve name of existing test.
- Improve grammar in glossary description of the exclude pathspec.

The pathspec mechanism is extended via the new
":(attr:eol=input)pattern/to/match" syntax to filter paths so that it
requires paths to not just match the given pattern but also have the
specified attrs attached for them to be chosen.

Instead of erroring out and telling the user that they should add a
positive pattern that covers everything else, just _do_ that.
For commands where we honor the current cwd by default (ie grep, ls-files
etc), we make that default positive pathspec be the current working
directory. And for commands that default to the whole project (ie diff,
log, etc), the default positive pathspec is the whole project.

The choice of '!' for a negative pathspec ends up not only not matching
what we do for revisions, it's also a horrible character for shell
expansion since it needs quoting.
So add '^' as an alternative alias for an excluding pathspec entry.

We need the place we stick refs for bisects in progress to not be
shared between worktrees. So we make the refs/bisect/ hierarchy
per-worktree.
The is_per_worktree_ref function and associated docs learn that
refs/bisect/ is per-worktree, as does the git_path code in path.c
The ref-packing functions learn that per-worktree refs should not be
packed (since packed-refs is common rather than per-worktree).
Since refs/bisect is per-worktree, logs/refs/bisect should be too.

Add glossary entries for both concepts.
Pseudorefs and per-worktree refs do not yet have special handling,
because the files refs backend already handles them correctly. Later,
we will make the LMDB backend call out to the files backend to handle
per-worktree refs.

:(glob)path differs from plain pathspec that it uses wildmatch with
WM_PATHNAME while the other uses fnmatch without FNM_PATHNAME. The
difference lies in how '*' (and '**') is processed.
With the introduction of :(glob) and :(literal) and their global
options --[no]glob-pathspecs, the user can:
- make everything literal by default via --noglob-pathspecs
--literal-pathspecs cannot be used for this purpose as it
disables _all_ pathspec magic.
- individually turn on globbing with :(glob)
- make everything globbing by default via --glob-pathspecs
- individually turn off globbing with :(literal)
The implication behind this is, there is no way to gain the default
matching behavior (i.e. fnmatch without FNM_PATHNAME). You either get
new globbing or literal. The old fnmatch behavior is considered
deprecated and discouraged to use.

The current definition of 'revision' sounds like it is saying that a
revision is a tree object. In reality it is just a commit.
This should be especially useful for people used to other revision
control systems trying to see how familiar concepts translate into git
terms.

The definition of a remote-tracking branch in the glossary have been
out-of-date for a while (by e.g. referring to "Pull:" from old-style
$GIT_DIR/remotes files).
Also, the preceding patches have formalized that a remote-tracking branch
must match a configured refspec in order to be usable as an upstream.
This patch rewrites the paragraph on remote-tracking branches accordingly.

The exact definition of "refspec" can be found in git-fetch and
git-push manpages. So don't duplicate this here in the glossary.
Actually the definition of "pathspec" should be moved to a separate
file akin to the way it's done with "refspec". But this will only be
wortwhile when there's more to say about it. So for the time being
just improve the first sentence a little bit; fix the indentation of
the first paragraph after the bullet list and remove the one-item
list of magic signatures with its - for the user - unnecessary
introduction of "magic word 'top'".

The name of the hash function is "SHA-1", not "SHA1".
Also to people who look up "object name" in the glossary,
the details of which hash function is applied on what to
compute "object name" is not important but the fact that the
name is meant to be an unique identifier for the contents
stored in the object is.

When we introduced the concept of "detached HEAD", we made sure that
commands that operate on the history of the current branch "just
work" in that state. They update the HEAD to point at the new
history without affecting any branch when the HEAD is detached, just
like they update the tip of the "current branch" to point at the new
history when HEAD points at a specific branch.
As this is done as the natural extension for these commands, we did
not, we still do not, and we do not want to repeat "A detached HEAD
is updated without affecting any branch" when describing what each
and every one of these commands that operates "on the current branch"
does.
Add a blanket description to the glossary to cover them instead.
The general principle is that operations to update the branch work
on and affect the HEAD, while operations to update the information
about a branch do not.

In the earlier days, we used to spell the name of the system as GIT,
to simulate as if it were typeset with capital G and IT in small
caps. Later we stopped doing so at around 1.6.5 days.
Let's stop doing so throughout the documentation. The name to refer
to the whole system (and the concept it embodies) is "Git"; the
command end-users type is "git". And document this in the coding
guideline.

HEAD on a branch does reference a commit via the branch ref it refers to.
The main difference of a detached HEAD is that it _directly_ refers to
a commit. Clarify this.

It is an unimportant implementation detail that ref namespaces are
implemented as subdirectories of $GIT_DIR/refs. What is more important
is that tags are in refs/tags hierarchy in the ref namespace.
Also note that a tag can point at an object of arbitrary type, not limited
to commit.

This reverts commit d0546e2d48, which
was only meant to be a Proof-of-concept used during the discussion.
The real implementation of the feature needs to wait until we migrate
all the code to use "struct pathspec", not "char **", to represent
richer semantics given to pathspec.
Support ":/" magic string that can be prefixed to a pathspec element to
say "this names the path from the top-level of the working tree", when
you are in the subdirectory.
For example, you should be able to say:
$ edit Makefile ;# top-level
$ cd Documentation
$ edit git.txt ;# in the subdirectory
and then do one of three things, still inside the subdirectory:
$ git add -u . ;# add only Documentation/git.txt
$ git add -u :/ ;# add everything, including paths outside Documentation
$ git add -u ;# whatever the default setting is.
To truly support magic pathspec, the API needs to be restructured so that
get_pathspec() and init_pathspec() are unified into one call. Currently,
the former just prefixes the user supplied pathspec with the current
subdirectory path, and the latter takes the output from the former and
pre-parses them into a bit richer structure for easier handling. They
should become a single API function that takes the current subdirectory
path and the remainder of argv[] (after parsing --options and revision
arguments from the command line) and returns an array of parsed pathspec
elements, and "magic" should become attributes of struct pathspec_item.
This patch implements only "top" magic because it can be hacked into the
system without such a refactoring.
The syntax for magic pathspec prefix is designed to be extensible yet
simple to type to invoke a simple magic like "from the top". The parser
for the magic prefix is hooked into get_pathspec() function in this patch,
and it needs to be moved when we refactor the API.
But we have to start from somewhere.
