Elia Pinto	f25f5e61a7	howto-index.sh: use the $( ... ) construct for command substitution The Git CodingGuidelines prefer the $(...) construct for command substitution instead of using the backquotes `...`. The backquoted form is the traditional method for command substitution, and is supported by POSIX. However, all but the simplest uses become complicated quickly. In particular, embedded command substitutions and/or the use of double quotes require careful escaping with the backslash character. The patch was generated by: for _f in $(find . -name ".sh") do sed -i 's@`\(.\)`@$(\1)@g' ${_f} done and then carefully proof-read. Thomas Ackermann	48a8c26c62	Documentation: avoid poor-man's small caps GIT In the earlier days, we used to spell the name of the system as GIT, to simulate as if it were typeset with capital G and IT in small caps. Later we stopped doing so at around 1.6.5 days. Let's stop doing so throughout the documentation. The name to refer to the whole system (and the concept it embodies) is "Git"; the command end-users type is "git". And document this in the coding guideline.
